Key Takeaways
- Prioritize suction power ratings over fancy aesthetic designs to ensure debris actually leaves your floor.
- Check the dust bin capacity against your home size so you do not have to empty it every five minutes.
- Cordless models offer unmatched freedom but require you to monitor battery life during long cleaning sessions.
- Bagged machines trap allergens more effectively than bagless versions, though they do require replacement bags.
- Robot vacuums work best for maintenance cleaning rather than handling heavy duty deep work on thick carpets.

More Details on Our Top Picks
-
Amazon Basics Upright Bagless Vacuum
If you want a no-nonsense cleaner that handles both carpet and hard floors, this is your primary candidate. It effectively clears debris using a 1.7L dust cup, which means fewer trips to the trash bin during your cleaning cycle.
The 25-foot cord provides ample reach for most rooms without needing to hunt for a new outlet constantly. Keep in mind that as an upright model, it lacks the maneuverability of a stick vacuum in tight, low-clearance areas.
- Brand:Amazon Basics
- Type:Upright Bagless
- Power Source:Corded
- Dust Capacity:1.7L
- Additional Feature:Crevice tool included
- Additional Feature:Upholstery tool included

- Power Source:Corded
- Additional Feature:Commercial-grade motor
- Additional Feature:Carpet height adjustment
- Additional Feature:Long power cord
