Key Takeaways
- Measure your window surface area twice to ensure you order enough material for complete coverage.
- Choose between static cling or adhesive backing depending on whether you need a permanent or temporary installation.
- Verify the light transmission percentage if your primary goal is total darkness rather than simple privacy.
- Check the roll width against your window frame dimensions to minimize the number of visible seams during application.
- Prioritize film thickness if you want extra protection against heat and ultraviolet rays in addition to light blocking.

Niviy Total Blackout Window Film
If you need to turn day into night, this is the solution. It is ideal for shift workers or anyone who needs a pitch-black room during the middle of the day. The film applies easily and creates a total blackout effect that standard blinds simply cannot match.
You should know that this film uses a no-glue adhesive design. This makes it much easier to remove or reposition if you happen to get a bubble during the initial application. However, because it is completely opaque, you will lose all natural light in the room once it is installed.

- Film Type:Blackout film
- Dimensions:17.7 inches by 78.7 inches
- Installation Method:Static cling
- Purpose:Room darkening

-
Kodak Tri-X 400 Professional Film
This is the gold standard for black and white photography. It is perfect for photographers who appreciate the high contrast and classic grain structure that digital sensors often fail to replicate. The 400 ISO speed makes it versatile enough for most lighting conditions.
But do remember that you are buying 35mm film rolls. You will need a compatible camera and a plan for chemical processing to see your final images. This is a tool for the patient artist, not the casual smartphone snapper.
- Brand Name:Kodak
- Film Type:35mm black and white
- Dimensions:24 exposures per roll
- Purpose:Professional photography
- Additional Feature:Fine grain performance
- Additional Feature:Broad exposure latitude
- Additional Feature:Professional standard processing
-
Kromapolis Blackout Privacy Window Film
This film is your best friend if you live in a busy area and want to block prying eyes. It acts like a curtain made of plastic, stopping both light and visibility from the outside world. It is a smart choice for ground-floor windows where privacy is the top priority.
The material is thick enough to feel substantial without being difficult to cut with a standard utility knife. Just keep in mind that the light-blocking surface is fairly unforgiving, so you will want to clean your glass thoroughly before applying it to prevent trapped debris from showing through.
- Brand Name:Kromapolis
- Film Type:Blackout window film
- Dimensions:17.5 inches by 78.7 inches
- Installation Method:Adhesive application

-
Velimax Frosted Black Lattice Film
If you want privacy but still need a bit of light, this lattice pattern is a fantastic choice. It provides a sophisticated look that mimics etched glass rather than just sticking a dark sheet over your window. It is perfect for adding a touch of style to a bathroom or front door.
Because it is a static cling product, you do not have to worry about sticky residue left behind on your windows. While it blocks the view, the pattern still allows some light to filter through, making the space feel less like a dungeon and more like a designed room.
